  • Play Games Together There are so many great options available for really fun gaming experiences together as a family. Classic board games, such as Monopoly, Life, Clue, Risk, etc. have stood the test of time for a reason. So many new board games are really delightful, such as Catan, Smallworld, Trekking the National Parks, Ticket to Ride, and many more. Dice, domino, and tile games such as Yahtzee, Mexican Train, Chicken Foot,Pass the Pigs, and Quirkle can be easy to learn and play together. Of course, there are countless options available of card games from Phase 10 to Uno or Duo to Skip-Bo to a gazillion options with playing cards. And you can have some genuine family fun with the right electronic gaming options like Nintendo’s Wii or Switch, or group smartphone games like Psych! and Among us.
  • Read a Great Book Together Choose a great story book together, and make reading a central family activity this summer. You can take turns and take the challenge of seeing who is “the best” out loud reader in the family. Or have one family member read through a whole book, giving their best to create a unique voice and energy for each of the main characters. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed this together over the years.
  • Cook Together Summer is a wonderful time to share the experience of cooking together. From discovering recipes and cooking ideas together to learning new techniques to maximizing the deliciousness of really healthy options to practicing the art of cooperation and positive teamwork to taking on the challenge of outdoing the previous delicious creation – cooking together as a family offers so many great ways to grow and enjoy life together. Bon appetit!
