Taking your kids to serve at a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, and/or relieving workers at Meals on Wheels during holidays are great opportunities for kids to learn by doing. Paying for a returning soldier’s meal or coffee brings on the smiles, too. Particularly like asking for a restaurant manager to compliment the waitstaff because they usually only hear the complaints. (Hoping & praying these lessons come back as actions in my grownup kids.)
