Why does blogging matter?

Published by Roger Butner on

All this hubbub about the Christian Blogger Awards has got me really pondering the medium and dynamics of blogging.  I would like to invite you to ponder and share with me on this.  For an interesting insight and dialogue on what blogs seem to capture our attention, check out Trey Morgan’s recent post.

How did you discover blogging?

Why are you interested in blogging?

What difference has blogging made in your life?

What do you think is missing in the blogosphere?

Could you make a better or more significant contribution to the blogosphere, and if so, how?

And, while we’re at it, where do you spend time on the blogosphere?  I’m always on the lookout for positive resources that make a difference, whether blogs, or books, or movies, or whatever.

I look forward to the dialogue!

This post from John Dobbs is exactly the kind of thing I was pondering. I was unable to attend the recent workshop where John and others actually taught classes on the power of blogging for the Kingdom. Thanks for sharing this with the rest of us, my online friend and brother!

I hope Blaine will not mind me adding this link to his recent post, which I believe to be a very important contribution.

I like that most people have different blogs with different emphases. I checked out the link to Blaine’s post and agree with a lot he said. I’ve visited a lot of sites where there are a lot of bones to pick through to get to the meat.
I’ve tried to avoid that by making my blog an extension of my weekly sermon. That way it’s not just about me or my ideas, I actually have to engage the text. Of course that also limits my input on contemporary social hot topics. But that’s just the niche I’ve made for myself.

My first time to your site, lots of good resources, keep up the good work.

Roger I have come across your site via other CoC blogs. I put your site in my Google Reader and look forward to your insight.

I started blogging in 2005 and then took a sabbatical until last year.

I am about to finish my MFT degree in 3 weeks and notice that is the focus on your blog.

Look forward to stopping by and dropping comments.

Cool deal, Lantz. Glad you found me, and I look forward to checking out your blog, as well. Always a pleasure connecting with fellow Christian MFTs!
