Blaine,

I'm glad my post/article was stirring and affirming for you. Eddie Parish has recommended I read "Sabbath Time" by Tilden Edwards and "Keeping the Sabbath Wholly" by Marva Dawn. I look forward to growing in this important life rhythm. And thanks for the article suggestion. Look for that one soon.

I was in a hurry, text messaging, answering phone calls, and driving while I skimmed over this article, but it looked like pretty good thoughts. Seriously, though, I personally feel shame when people ask me what I did on a quiet day if my response is "nothing" or "I rested" or even worse "I took a long nap". Inactivity is often equated with laziness. I read an article recently about how cell phones have produced higher stress levels in users, mainly because the lines between work and home become very blurry. (That might be a good article for an influential Christian counselor to write...) It's refreshing to hear someone remind us it's not a only a good idea- it's a command- to allow slowing down to be an integral part of the rhythm of our daily lives.
